Our Story
The Mid Hudson Islamic Association was founded in the early 1960s by a dedicated group of young families who started off meeting within one another’s homes to hold weekly prayer services and Islamic classes. Through the grace of Allah Almighty and the hard work of those families, MHIA was able to build the beautiful Masjid Al Noor in Wappingers Falls, NY in 1990. Over the last 30 years, this Masjid has become home to the Al Noor Islamic School that has provided Islamic education for hundreds of Muslim children. Today, part of MHIA’s primary mission is to provide a space for the local Muslim community to gather and learn about the sacred faith of Islam.
In addition to providing spiritual, emotional, personal, and community support to Muslims of all backgrounds, MHIA also strives to increase interfaith collaboration and community engagement in the greater Dutchess County area through charitable drives and collaborative events throughout the year. MHIA provides a newsletter to keep everyone up to date with events and news within the community, and aware of the prayer times offered at our Masjid.
MHIA Leadership
MHIA is governed by a Board of Trustees and an Executive Committee. The Board and EC consist of active members who have been duly elected by the members of the MHIA community. General Body Meetings are held periodically and are open to the public.
